Transcend the Reference
(10am-1pm) By working on a current piece or project with guidance and insight from the instructor, practice new ways to see and develop your artistic voice and/or technical skills. Learn to discover roadblocks and work through current limitations with an emphasis on fundamentals in your chosen media within painting or drawing. There will be various discussions on materials and techniques as needed.
Using your own photo references, the instructor will discuss what make good ones for artwork and how to make best use of them, all with an eye toward advancement. You can bring in still life objects if you prefer. This class is for any level beyond absolute beginner, classes may be entered at any time.
Walk-In Watercolor
(1pm-4pm) This drop-in class focuses on fundamentals of painting with transparent watercolor as a primary medium, but other media like acrylic, gouache or watercolor pencils are more than welcome too.
Bring in your own references and work along side others in a mutually supportive environment. The instructor will utilize critiques and specific guidance to try and overcome roadblocks on your watercolor journey, and nurture your creative voice. Occasionally this will involve customized exercises or a short technique demo, but primarily it’s just painting what inspires you along side others doing the same!
